Considered advisory for firms taking an international step
Thanya Advisory is a Bangkok-based consultancy focused on one thing: helping Thai firms think clearly about cross-border expansion, at every stage from early consideration through to active market entry.
← Back to HomeHow Thanya Advisory came to be
Thanya Advisory was established in Bangkok with a clear starting premise: that Thai firms considering international expansion often needed something different from what was on offer. Not a large strategy deck or a market report assembled at a distance, but a working relationship with someone who understood both the commercial landscape of the target market and the particular position a Thai-registered firm occupies when it crosses a border.
The firm developed out of years spent working alongside mid-size Thai businesses navigating ASEAN market entries, cross-border regulatory questions, and the quieter operational challenges that only surface once a firm has committed to a new geography. That experience shaped a particular approach — one that favors candid observation over confident-sounding recommendations, and working plans over polished reports.
We tend to work with leadership teams who are genuinely weighing a cross-border step, rather than those who have already decided and need paperwork to support the decision. Our interest is in helping clients understand what they are actually considering, including the parts that are uncertain or complicated, so that any commitment they make is made with a clear picture.
Clients have included manufacturing exporters, professional service firms, technology businesses, and a small number of family-owned enterprises with regional ambitions. The work varies, but the posture stays consistent: considered, frank, and oriented toward what the client will actually do with the output.
Clarity before commitment
We think the most useful thing an advisory firm can do is help a client understand a situation clearly — including its uncertainties. Decisions made from that position tend to be more durable than those made from pressure or incomplete information.
- Candor
We share our honest reading, including when it differs from what the client hoped to hear.
- Proportion
We scope engagements to what the client's situation actually calls for, not to what fills a billing cycle.
- Continuity
Our work is structured to leave the client in a stronger internal position, not more dependent on external advice.
The people who carry the work
Thawan Charoenwong
Principal Advisor
Thawan leads the firm's advisory work and has spent the past fifteen years working alongside Thai businesses on cross-border market entries across ASEAN and South Asia. He holds an MBA from Chulalongkorn University and completed additional studies at the London School of Economics.
Nanthipha Phuengpradit
Regulatory & Legal Affairs
Nanthipha manages the firm's regulatory research and coordinates with legal specialists in client target markets. Her background spans commercial law and international trade compliance, with particular depth in Vietnam, Malaysia, and the GCC.
Somchai Rattanakosin
Financial Modeling & Analysis
Somchai builds the financial models underpinning client entry plans, with attention to cross-currency exposure, local capital requirements, and breakeven assumptions under different market conditions. He previously worked in corporate banking at Kasikorn Bank.
How we structure our work
Every engagement is carried out according to a defined set of professional standards — not as a compliance exercise, but because they produce more reliable and useful outputs.
Confidentiality
All client information is treated as strictly confidential. We do not discuss or reference client matters across engagements without explicit permission.
Documented Scope
Every engagement begins with a written scope agreement. If that scope changes, it is updated in writing before the additional work proceeds.
Source Transparency
We note the basis for our observations in written deliverables. Where data is limited or uncertain, we say so explicitly rather than projecting false confidence.
Interim Review Points
Longer engagements include scheduled interim drafts and review sessions, giving clients the opportunity to redirect the work before it reaches final form.
Data Protection
Client data is stored securely and handled in line with applicable Thai personal data protection requirements. We do not retain client commercial data beyond the engagement period without agreement.
Quality Review
All written deliverables pass an internal review before reaching the client. The principal advisor reviews every substantive output, not just summary documents.
Cross-border advisory for Thai business
International market entry decisions carry real commercial and operational weight. The regulatory frameworks governing foreign business registration, import licensing, local employment, and commercial agency relationships vary significantly across ASEAN jurisdictions — and the gap between what a market appears to offer and what it actually delivers for a specific firm can be substantial.
Thanya Advisory brings a working familiarity with those conditions, developed through engagements with Thai firms across manufacturing, distribution, professional services, and technology sectors. The work is conducted in English and Thai, and can engage with counterparts and materials in either language.
Located in Bangkok, oriented toward the region
Our office in Din Daeng, Bangkok serves as the base for all engagements. Being Bangkok-based keeps us close to the Thai business environment while maintaining the regional perspective that cross-border advisory requires.
We draw on a network of local specialists — lawyers, accountants, regulatory consultants, and local commercial contacts — in the markets where our clients are most likely to operate. These relationships are engaged on a per-client basis when specific expertise is needed, rather than bundled into every engagement regardless of relevance.
Would a conversation be worth your time?
