◆ Why Thanya Advisory

What clients tend to find useful about working with us

This page sets out, plainly, what we think we bring to an engagement and how that differs from what many advisory providers offer. We have tried to keep it honest.

◆ Core Advantages

Six things that may be worth considering

01

Thai Firm Perspective

Our work is shaped by the specific conditions Thai-registered businesses face when crossing a border — regulatory, operational, and cultural.

02

Frank Assessment

We share what we actually observe — including when the conditions are less straightforward than they appear, or when the timing may not be right.

03

Usable Outputs

Deliverables are practical working documents — not polished presentations. The client team can open, edit, and continue working from them without us.

04

Joint Working Style

Engagements are conducted with the client's team, not around them. This builds internal capacity alongside the external deliverable.

05

Specialist Access

Where specific legal, financial, or regulatory expertise is needed, we can draw on a network of in-market specialists without marking up their fees.

06

Scoped to Fit

Engagements begin with one of three defined scope options. You pay for the work that matches your current stage, not a larger project shaped by a sales conversation.

◆ Expertise

Regional knowledge, not borrowed research

The team's familiarity with ASEAN and South Asian markets developed over years of direct advisory engagement — not through aggregating third-party market reports. This means our reading of a specific market tends to be more nuanced than what standard databases provide.

We are also honest about the limits of that familiarity. For markets outside our core scope, we say so clearly and can indicate specialists with direct experience, rather than presenting confident-sounding advice that rests on thin ground.

  • Direct engagement history across key ASEAN markets
  • Familiarity with Thai BOI and Board of Investment implications
  • Regulatory reading across Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, GCC markets
  • Cross-border corporate structure and licensing experience
  • Thai and English language engagement capacity

  • Written scope agreements before each engagement begins
  • Interim drafts and review points in all multi-week projects
  • Clearly sourced observations in all written deliverables
  • Financial models built in client-editable formats
  • Transparent fee structures — no markup on third-party specialists
◆ Process

A structured process that keeps the client in the picture

Every engagement is scoped, documented, and carried out through scheduled working sessions with the client's team. Deliverables pass through an internal quality review before reaching the client, and all financial models are built in formats the client can continue editing independently.

We do not carry out extended background work that the client only sees at the end. Where findings point in an unexpected direction, we surface that early.

◆ Client Service

A relationship built on access, not formality

Clients in longer engagements can reach the advisory team between formal sessions — for a specific question, a second opinion on a commercial term, or a quick orientation before a counterparty meeting. We try to be genuinely useful in those moments, not just during scheduled calls.

We also aim to communicate when a situation is outside our scope, or when a different kind of support would serve the client better. That kind of candor is, in our view, part of the service.

  • Between-session access for specific questions (Advisory Partnership)
  • Two working-day response commitment for all enquiries
  • Consistent contact — the same person throughout the engagement
  • In-person, video, or hybrid session formats
  • Referrals to appropriate specialists where our scope ends
◆ Comparison

How this tends to differ from a typical approach

A straightforward comparison — not to dismiss other approaches, but to help you assess whether ours is likely to suit your firm's situation.

Aspect Typical Advisory Provider Thanya Advisory
Starting scope Often scoped to fill a retainer Scoped to your current stage
Deliverable format Polished PDF presentation Working document your team can edit
Client involvement Brief at start, present at end Joint working sessions throughout
Market knowledge Often sourced from databases Direct engagement experience
Uncertainty handling Presented with confidence regardless Named and sourced in deliverables
Specialist fees Marked up or bundled At cost, on a per-need basis
Thai business context Generic international framing Built into the engagement approach
◆ Distinctive Features

A few things that are less common in this field

We sometimes recommend not proceeding

If a market review surfaces conditions that suggest the timing or context is not well-suited to a firm's current position, we will say so directly. An advisory firm that consistently recommends proceeding — regardless of what the work finds — is not particularly useful.

Specialist referrals without commercial motive

When a client's situation calls for a specialist we do not have — a specific jurisdiction lawyer, a local accountant, a commercial agent in a specific sector — we make introductions at cost, without a referral arrangement that could color the recommendation.

Thai-language engagement capacity

Engagements can be conducted in Thai or English depending on client preference. Working sessions with Thai-speaking leadership teams, and review of Thai-language commercial documents, can be carried out without translation overhead.

Modular engagement structure

Our three engagement types are designed to build on each other, but each stands alone. A firm that completes a Market Exploration Review has a useful output regardless of whether it proceeds to an Entry Plan. There is no pressure to progress.
